Is Premature Ejaculation Genetic?

A medical article published on May 28, 2009 stated that Premature Ejaculation seems to have a genetic link. Is this a good or bad thing for those who suffer from PE? Let’s dig a little deeper into this subject matter, shall we?
Well, premature ejaculation is still a very touchy subject matter because not only is it an embarrassing disorder, experts still cannot pinpoint the EXACT cause/reason why premature ejaculation occurs. You’ll hear a lot of assumptions from scholarly journals and publications; however, none are factual. Doctors will say it is caused by anxiety, pressure, nervousness, inexperience, and the list continues… The fact is that premature ejaculation may actually be a genetic trait that is passed on from our ancestors.
The gene that correlates with premature ejaculation affects the checmical levels of serotoin produced in our brain. Unbalanced levels of serotonin affect a person’s mood, which in more severe cases, lead to chronic depression. In cases of depressed subjects, doctors prescribe SSRI’s (also known as antidepressants) to their patients to properly balance their patient’s serotonin levels. This is why there are case studies in the past where doctors would prescribe antidepressants to patients suffering from premature ejaculation as a temporary cure. Though the drug is meant for treating depression, it is capable of temporarily delaying ejaculation during sexual intercourse.
Though this may be a way out of premature ejaculation, I personally don’t recommend taking pills to overcome this weakness. Remain focused and train yourself to overcome this weakness!
